Best of Travel is an interactive online source for travelers across the world, whereas Best of the Neighborhood focuses on the hyper-local aspects of the community. Best of Travel- Best of Travel LLC, a woman-owned business, was founded in 2004 by Texan Carrie Layne. In 2004, Carrie found herself living in the Cayman Islands and immediately recognized a need for a centralized hub where Cayman locals, new residents and travelers alike could get an inside look at the best places to shop and play, where to stay and more- all while learning about the island from the perspective of others. Following the success of BestofCayman.com, the company moved to the United States to begin its nationwide launch. In honor of our Texas roots, the first of these new sites began in Texas in 2007- starting with the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. The company has now expanded through-out the state of Texas and has plans to launch in Florida, North Carolina and the Caribbean by the end of 2009. Best of the Neighborhood- This side of the company focuses on our hyper-local websites. These sites, broken down by state, city, town or neighborhood, offer the visitor all the best the location has to offer. Visitors can expect to find information on restaurants, bars, hotels, apartments, activities, shopping, beauty, fitness, medical, dental, health, kid-related businesses, real estate, professional services, weddings, events and much more. All sites include a location-specific blog that features local arts, entertainment, music, GLBT, events and news. Membership to the sites is free and allows users to write reviews, print coupons and discounts, view videos and photos, rate businesses, add favorites and more.
