White Desert is the first and only aviation and luxury camp operator in the interior of Antarctica.
Flying from Cape Town, South Africa, to our luxury camps in Queen Maud Land in Antarctica, we offer you a transformative experience. The end of the world is unimaginably beautiful.
After a five-hour flight across the Southern Ocean aboard our private airplane, you will land on the ancient blue ice of our dedicated runway at Wolf’s Fang. Then, you will transfer to Whichaway, located on the shores of a freshwater lake fringed by a 60m / 200ft icewall, or Echo, set in the dramatic mountainous lunar landscapes of the last great wildernesses on Earth.
Our adventures range from 5 to 7-days to visit the Emperor Penguins and the Geographic South Pole, as well as the world’s most extraordinary day trip! Guests stay in luxurious heated polar pods, while our food and wine draw on the best that Cape Town and the Winelands have to offer. With genuine polar explorers as your guides, you will see, touch and experience a place that is unlike anything else on Earth.
In 2025 we are launching a brand new journey, drawing on the spirit of adventure and glamour found in eras past. We will be outfitting our Basler aircraft in retro glam as they fly low and slow across South America before they make their annual flight to Antarctica.
