Hudson Institute is a leading Australian medical research institute recognised internationally for discovery science and translational research. We strive to improve human health through groundbreaking, collaborative, medical research discoveries and the translation of these to real world impact.
We are research leaders in five areas of medical need:
1. Inflammation – exploring how your body’s inflammatory response to infection and injury helps you to fight infectious diseases, like COVID-19, autoimmune diseases and cancer. We house Australia’s largest group of inflammation and immunity scientists and clinicians.
1. Reproductive health and pregnancy – answering the tough questions around infertility and pregnancy complications to reduce rates of infertility and stillbirth and to find new treatments for endometriosis and birth trauma.
2. Infant and child health – protecting vulnerable newborns from complications during birth, in the critical early weeks of life and exploring better treatments for childhood diseases.
4. Cancer – investigating how cancer starts developing, and exploring ways to better diagnose, detect and treat life-threatening cases.
5. Hormones and Health – improving the understanding of how your hormonal (endocrine) system maintains its delicate balance to improve your health and wellbeing.
Our 443 scientists and students ask questions that push the boundaries of human knowledge to solve complex problems about human disease.
Clinical experience based on patient need informs our research enquiry, and our close ties with medical staff and industry support the translation of our discoveries into new preventative approaches, therapies and devices for patient.
