The Colegio Arenas Sur is a private, emblematic school in the south of Gran Canaria, thanks to an educational project that is committed to education in values and quality – and with a philosophy based on the search for educational excellence, innovation pedagogy and its international vocation. Founded in 1993 and integrated into the Comunidad Educativa Arenas, the School welcomes students from 6 months to 18 years old. Since 2014 it has the category of “World School”, a distinction granted by the International Baccalaureate Organization, and has a team that makes it an educational benchmark year after year.
The Comunidad Educativa Arenas is an autonomous division of the Institución Educativa Arenas, a clear educational benchmark in the Canary Islands whose origin dates back to 1940 on Pi y Margall street in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the foundation of the Colegio Arenas by teachers Lucía Pérez and Antonio Ojeda. In the 1970s, the School became one of the first educational institutions to adopt the bilingual teaching model (Spanish – English) within the Spanish State, and the first in the Canary Islands.
In 1993 the institution, represented by Alberto Ojeda Pérez, expanded to the south of the island of Gran Canaria, creating the headquarters of Colegio Arenas Sur, extending its avant-garde teaching model, based on the search for academic excellence, pedagogical innovation and its international and integrating vocation promoted by the founders. In order to continue improving themselves every day, today they stand out for being innovative in the use of active and participatory learning models, personalization programs and support for families, and for innovating by putting new technologies at the service of the methodology.
