Food Newcastle is a partnership of businesses, organisations and individuals with a passion, interest or remit around various aspects of good food. We are an independent non-profit movement that, through our expanding partnership, provides awareness encouraging others to share information and take action to create a healthier food culture in Newcastle upon Tyne whilst helping protect our planet.
Food Newcastle is a member of the UK Sustainable Food Places Initiative. The network is a growing movement of over 70 towns, cities, boroughs and regions that share the same approach for transforming food, food culture and who recognise the role of food as a catalyst for change in addressing key economic, environmental and social issues. The network helps places share challenges, explore practical solutions and develop best practice on important food issues.
After many months of compiling examples of the fantastic food projects being led by communities, the public sector and businesses across Newcastle, our city was awarded Sustainable Food Places Bronze Award status in June 2019! The award is designed to recognise and celebrate the success of places taking a joined up, holistic approach to food and that are achieving significant positive change on a range of key food issues.
