The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) is the EU agency responsible for protecting plant variety rights (PVR) in the EU. The CPVO offer breeders and innovators an EU-wide PVR for new creations.
Since the creation of the CPVO in 1995, it has processed over 51,000 PVR applications. In 2014, CPVO applications experienced a 10% increase on its 2013 applications – which was also a record year.
The CPVO is a self-financed decentralised body of the EU, based in Angers, France.
