Umatilla Morrow Head Start, Inc. (UMHS) is driven by the mission to equip children, families, and those who care for them, for life long learning and success through a culture of diversity. We are committed to building an inclusive and equitable community where all can thrive.
With main offices in Hermiston, OR, UMHS has been Eastern Oregon’s trusted and longstanding community nonprofit providing essential programs in early childhood education, family support, nutrition, and wellness since 1983. Our programs are recognized for delivering high quality services, and we are often sought out as leaders in our approaches, methodologies, and procedures that prioritize building community centered programs and inclusivity in serving diverse populations. As a nonprofit leader in the region, UMHS plays a significant role throughout the area and across Oregon with funding, agency, and school district partnerships and co lead regional and state hubs in early childhood education and family services.
UMHS serves nine counties in seventeen community locations through Early Head Start and Head Start, preschool, and childcare services (making UMHS Oregon’s largest Head Start and PreK service program area) Women Infant & Children (WIC) program, Healthy Families, Home Visiting program, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Our programs serve the whole family and child through robust wraparound services in mental and physical health, family services, and nutrition. Our more than 225 team members come together with a shared commitment to building stronger and healthier communities.
