The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Pittsburgh is a Non Profit Catholic Lay Organization. The Council of Pittsburgh is made up of 98 conferences, in Beaver, Butler, Allegheny, Lawrence, and Washington Counties. Conferences are made up of individual volunteers called Vincentians, generally based in Catholic Churches.
The Thrift Stores in Butler, Castle Shannon, Coraopolis, Monroeville and Swissvale support the conferences and so does our Transportation & Recycling Center in Penn Hills.
Last year, St. Vincent de Paul was able to provide: food (or food vouchers) for more than 28,000 people, furniture and clothing to 3,387 people in the Pittsburgh area, and over $880,000 in utility and rent assistance to families in need. Vincentians visited individuals and families at their homes or in prisons, hospitals, and nursing homes a total of 13,104 times during 2017.
