Michael J. Burns Architects, Ltd. (MJBA) was founded in 1983, and is a North Dakota Professional Corporation.
Principal Michael Burns, AIA, CID, has more than 40 years of professional experience in both public and private sector work. Throughout MJBA’s history, approximately 65% of our work has been for public institutions, governmental agencies, cities, and counties. Projects include churches, county buildings, residential and healthcare structures, schools, and higher education facilities.
Our unique niche of professional practice for the last 40 years has focused on the renovation of and/or additions to historic buildings. Our vast knowledge has made MJBA one of the premier firms in the upper Midwest for this sector of work. We’ve been involved with more than 100 monumental buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places or considered significant historic structures.
Our office is located in a renovated historic warehouse in downtown Moorhead, Minnesota. The firm is organized as a studio, encouraging the close interaction of the entire staff throughout every project's development. Creative thinking and problem-solving are fostered in this environment. The office's design has been recognized with several design awards.
MJBA is a proud Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB).
