NOCO owns and operates a diverse group of businesses primarily focused on the sale and distribution of energy and petroleum products in the New York state area and beyond. Since 1933, the NOCO family has been a vibrant force in the communities we serve. Today we boldly look forward, leveraging infrastructure and manpower to pursue new markets and opportunities in energy, home services, food service, and real estate.
NOCO is a third-generation family owned and locally operated company, with 90 years of experience in the energy business. Founded in Tonawanda, N.Y. in 1933 by Reginald B. Newman, NOCO started out supplying coal to residential customers. After its incorporation in 1948 to R.B. Newman Fuel Company, NOCO began delivering home heating oil as the demand for coal decreased.
Reginald’s two sons, Donald F. Newman and Reginald B. Newman II, joined the company in 1954 and 1960, respectively. They continued the family tradition of growth by broadening NOCO’s product lines and marketing area. In 1973, NOCO acquired a 33 million gallon storage facility from the Gulf Oil Company. In 1983, NOCO purchased the adjacent 10 million gallon operation from Ashland Oil to give the company over 42 million gallons of petroleum storage capacity.
In 2001, Jim Newman was named President, carrying the business into the third generation. With a number of acquisitions and new ventures in recent years, NOCO now distributes a full portfolio of energy products.
