The Commission is the voice of women to the legislature. Commissioners are appointed to identify and offer solutions for issues facing women in Oklahoma. There are 30 members who serve staggered five-year terms. The Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives appoint 10 members each. In making such appointments to the Commission, consideration is given to making the membership representative of the geographic areas of the state and the several racial, religious, and ethnic groups residing in the state.
