Known for staging bold and boundary-breaking plays in the style of Off- and Off-Off Broadway, TCT has stage nearly 40 productions since 2010. Some of TCT’s noteworthy regional premieres include Sarah Kanes’ CLEANSED, Young Jean Lee’s STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, and Clare Barron’s Pulitzer Prize finalist, DANCE NATION.
TCT thrives on experimentation, both in terms of the plays we select and how we rehearse and stage them. We challenge conventions and embrace playfulness. This is how we work to keep the art form dynamic and evolving.
The other cornerstone of TCT’s mission is championing equity and diversity on- and off-stage. TCT has upheld gender parity in play programming in every single season. The proof is in the numbers: 17 male playwrights, 18 female playwrights, and 1 non-binary playwright. TCT has embraced EDI (Equity/Diversity/Inclusivity) work since its inception. It’s in the DNA of the organization’s mission.
