Creating a Better Community Through the Arts
Placing Teaching Artists in Schools
Because of the Artists in the Schools program, more than 100,000 Wake school children see a theatre, dance or music performance or get a week-long artist visit every year. Established for more than 30 years, Artists in the Schools continues to grow in popularity at a time when more formal arts instruction in schools is being cut. Without the program, many children would not be exposed to art in any other way.
Championing the Arts Outside Raleigh
United Arts reaches beyond Raleigh to enhance the lives of all Wake County residents. Our funding, for example, helps provide musicians for a senior dance, multi-cultural performers for an outdoor concert series, or children’s activities in a downtown festival--all enlivening life in the towns in our county.
Building the Wake Arts Community
United Arts helps individual artists and new arts groups who need seed funding to grow. And by providing training, marketing and advocacy, United Arts is strong force promoting the growth of all arts in Wake County.
