ABOUT US Established in 2002, Studio Blue Architects Incorporated is a Barbadian company providing the full scope of architectural, interior design and project management services within Barbados and the wider Caribbean. We are a diverse team of chartered architects and experienced technicians whose collective interests lie in pushing the boundaries of traditional Caribbean architecture to create contemporary designs that respect and enhance the natural environment. EXPERIENCE Our portfolio covers a wide range of sectors from the small scale of furniture and interior design to adaptive re-use, refurbishments, new build residential (including individual houses, villas, town-houses & apartments), healthcare, commercial offices, museums, leisure facilities, retail stores, manufacturing plants and Industrial projects. DESIGN ETHOS We recognize that each project is unique and therefore each project is analysed for its specific conditions, constraints and opportunities: the end result being not a preconceived idea but a combination of the client's needs, the site and the budget. We believe that good design will produce functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces and buildings that have an enduring quality over time. GREEN ARCHITECTURE As well as enhancing wellbeing, our designs respond to the climate and their environment. We are ‘green architects’ in the sense that we create buildings that harmonize with the site’s natural features and have minimal impact on the environment. Our approach varies depending on the client and the project, but typically includes natural ventilation & day lighting, rainwater harvesting and water conservation systems, energy efficient lighting and air-conditioning, photovoltaic systems for energy generation, solar panels for hot water heating, and ‘sustainable’ building materials.
