Principal Bryan Young founded the design studio Young Projects in New York City in 2010. The studio produces multidisciplinary work that ranges from architecture and art to furniture and film. Each architectural project seeks to engage and respond to the unique parameters that define the essence of the design problem and the client’s aspirations. Careful consideration of program, budget and schedule facilitates research driven inquiries into craft and materiality, history and context, and the experience of natural light and spatial definition. While the projects are highly innovative, the work maintains a clear and perceivable sense of order and hierarchy. Current projects include a ground up private residence and retreat consisting of six new buildings totaling 25,000 square feet, the completion of a rooftop landscape in New York City, multiple loft renovations, a townhouse gut renovation in Williamsburg and the prototyping of digitally fabricated light fixtures.
