Arts festival in coastal Essex. Roman River combines a professional core with strong and broad volunteer support. Our mission is to make international quality culture accessible to everyone, to support artists, and to develop artforms. We have an excellent, and locally unique, track record of staging international quality arts festivals annually since 2000. We bring music, visual art, dance, spoken word, new work and largescale participatory projects to a diverse community. We encourage new collaborations, support young artists, break down barriers to engagement by performing in informal, unexpected spaces, and work hard to develop new audiences for the arts among communities with low engagement. We are creatively ambitious and international in outlook while being embedded in our community.
