In this vibrant Viking Museum, both Icelandic and foreign visitors are given an opportunity to learn about Icelandic history in a way that is both educational and fun.
The Saga Museum recreates key moments in Icelandic history, moments that have determined the fate of our people. It gives a compelling insight into the Icelandic way of life for over a millennium.
Lifelike replicas of historical Icelandic figures were created on the basis of the descriptions in the Icelandic sagas and chronicles. To achieve authenticity, clothing, weapons and everyday objects were constructed, using traditional methods passed down through the ages. The weapons were specifically crafted and the wool and linen articles were hand-dyed.
