WasserCluster Lunz is a renowned and internationally recognized research center specialized on sustainable, process-oriented, and holistic aquatic ecosystem research. Our research helps to protect and secure inland freshwater ecosystems for future generations.
WasserCluster Lunz is a non-profit research center that is affiliated in equal parts with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU Vienna), the University for Continuing Education Krems (UWK), and the University of Vienna (UVIE). The Provincial Government of Lower Austria and the Municipality of Vienna contribute to the basic funding of our institute.
Based on the unique co-operation of our three universities, WasserCluster Lunz creates the foundation for outstanding achievements in research and education and is a key player in national and international co-operations.
We provide the knowledge and data necessary to understand the complex aquatic processes that form the base for aquatic ecosystems’ integrity, functionality, and resilience. Our research significantly contributes to an improved prediction of environmental changes and to the development of sustainable concepts for the current and future use of freshwater systems for the benefit of both human society and nature.
