The Tide® is a Christian radio broadcasting ministry that focuses on providing relevant, Biblical teaching to people in their "Heart Languages"--the languages they were taught to speak from birth. The Tide ministry was started in 1946 by Charlie Byers as the Gospel Tide Broadcasting Association, and initially produced an English language radio program called the Gospel Tide Hour. First aired in south-central Pennsylvania and then expanding into other regions of North America, this program was famous for the Gospel Tide Choir. The first international broadcast began in 1978 when The Tide ministry began producing a Hindi Language radio program in India. The international ministry grew rapidly and in 2008, the decision was made to stop producing English radio broadcasts and focus primarily on international broadcasting. Today, The Tide ministry is broadcasting in 25 Heart Languages across Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. In addition to the radio broadcasts, The Tide ministry also provides discipleship training, literature distribution, correspondence courses, conferences & seminars, media players for areas in poverty, and also partners with indigenous churches to plant churches and provide leadership training.
