The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts includes the Christian Science Church, The Christian Science Publishing Society, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Mary Baker Eddy Library. Together, they work closely to support the Church’s healing mission and share the principles and practice of Christian Science with the world.
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, also known as The Mother Church, is the global headquarters for the Christian Science movement. In addition to conducting church services for the local Boston community, these buildings house departments that coordinate international Christian Science lectures and church activities, publish the writings of Mary Baker Eddy (who discovered and founded Christian Science), maintain the Christian Science Plaza in Boston, direct all legal, financial, and promotional activities, oversee the local Christian Science Reading Room, and more.
The Christian Science Publishing Society delivers products and publications including the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons, Christian Science Sentinel, The Christian Science Journal, and The Herald of Christian Science. It also publishes The Christian Science Monitor, an independent global news organization and winner of seven Pulitzer Prizes. The Mary Baker Eddy Library serves as a research library and museum, housing collections of church history and the papers of Mary Baker Eddy.
