ABOUT US
Founded in 2004 by a group of Long Island music lovers, music educators and industry professionals, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and New York State-accredited museum organization.
OUR MISSION
To recognize, celebrate and preserve the exceptional music heritage of the Long Island region.
OUR VISION
We are in the process of building a state-of-the-art-museum and facility that will showcase inductees, boast music exhibits, feature a multimedia resource center, house educational facilities and outreach programs and most importantly, serve Long Island as a central location for our music heritage.
OUR FUTURE
Our new museum and first home is slated to open in 2017 as the centerpiece of the Wyandanch Village revitalization project. Selected as the primary arts organization by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and the Town of Babylon, this community is set to change the way we live and operate on Long Island.
The Long Island Music Hall of Fame will be located at the center of Wyandanch Village just above the park and will have a prime location taking advantage of its position overlooking the Wyandanch Village Park.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
The LIMHoF Museum will be the heart of our efforts, but the building itself only encompasses a portion of what we do in the community.
*We provide K-12 programs, serving all Long Island schools from Brooklyn to Montauk.
*We offer "Master Class" workshops and seminars conducted by music industry professionals throughout the year.
*We award scholarships annually to deserving young musicians and grant opportunities to support music organizations.
*We support those who teach by honoring an "Educator of Note" each year for their demonstration of commitment to music education and their role in the community.
*We recognize local artists who have had a significant impact on the Long Island music scene by presenting the Long Island Sound Award (LISA)
