In addition, news agencies and media outlets transmit their news, images and sound bites through our channels. This makes us the technical service provider for media supply throughout Germany. Day in, day out, we ensure the fail-safe transmission of information in daily editorial business as well as secure reporting on TV, radio, online media and in newspapers. mecom was founded in Hamburg in 1989 and is a joint venture of the news agencies dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH, dpa-AFX Wirtschaftsnachrichten GmbH, KNA Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur GmbH, GEP Gemeinschaftswerk der Evangelischen Publizistik gGmbH with epd and AFP Agence France-Presse GmbH. dpa is the major shareholder and holds a 50 per cent stake in mecom.
