Penn Electric Racing (PER) is the University of Pennsylvania’s Formula SAE Electric Team. We built America’s fastest student-designed racecar with a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds – that’s acceleration faster than freefall.
PER has enjoyed a legacy of success: in the past three years, we placed 1st overall two times at America’s premier student racecar competition, FSAE Lincoln, and won over 20 trophies in total.
Our earliest racecar, REV1, was the first functional EV at Lincoln ever. A year later, REV2 broke the American acceleration record for both the gas and electric division. In 2017, REV3 scored the fastest 0-75 meter time in all of North America.
With REV4, we decided to start over and attempt to build a 4-Wheel-Drive vehicle. In fact, we are the first FSAE student team to design a fully custom in-wheel powertrain, from motor housing to controller logic. We didn’t stop there - REV4 was also developed with a fully verified aerodynamics package, battery management system, and more. It is by far our most ambitious vehicle yet.
PER brings the next generation of engineers and leaders together. Our all-student club of over 60 students represents the best our campus has to offer, from Penn Engineering to Wharton. Our passion stems from a commitment to detail and pursuit of calculated perfection. Join us as we push the boundaries of what electric vehicles can do.
