Welcome to the AWCZ! International friendships with an American flair!
Founded in 1931, the American Women's Club of Zurich welcomes US and North American citizens and women of all nationalities who appreciate the American way of life. Our activities and interest groups give our members many opportunities for friendship and personal development. Our philanthropic and community service projects benefit the greater Zurich area, Switzerland, and the larger global community.
The AWCZ Clubhouse is located in the trendy Seefeld neighborhood close to museums, cinema, the Opera, restaurants, boutiques and the Lake of Zurich. It is easily accessible by public transportation (trams 2 & 4). There are garages and some street parking available.
Our Clubhouse has one of the largest English-language libraries in the Zurich area.
The American Women's Club offers more than 25 regular activities to our over 280 members; we operate one of the largest English libraries in Zurich, are part of a global organization called FAWCO, and began a multi-year partnership with FIZ to support victims of human trafficking in Switzerland. Our 2023 Book and Bake Sale, was a big success as we sold more than a thousand books and hundreds of baked goods. We organize most of our activities like book clubs, bridge, walks etc and events at our Clubhouse, located a few blocks away from here in the Seefeld district of Zurich. It's a central meeting point and a fully equipped event venue- in addition to our newly revamped 7,500 book library which is now online. We are also active online with our website, social media and run a bi-monthly magazine.
More than this, the American Women's Club is an important entry point and home away from home for the US and the international community in the Zurich area. Many Americans landing in Zurich reach out to us first. The large American population, estimated at 3,500 households in the Zurich area, rely on us to celebrate traditions.
