Green Cathedral was founded in 1996 by Dr Michael Woodley, Paul Putwain and Rufus Evison. The company began as a website design and build operation right at the start of the web.
Green Cathedral grew into a group company with a full service digital agency business (GCDM) and a privately funded tech incubator.
GCDM became one of the largest independent digital agencies in the UK, consistently ranked in the New Media Age Top 20 agencies list, with 70 employees in Cambridge and London and billings of £7.5m. GCDM was acquired by Golley Slater Group in 2008.
GCDM’s web and online marketing clients were some of the biggest brands in the UK, including Avon, AXA, Centre Parcs, The FT, The FIA, PC World, Thomas Pink, and William Hill.
Green Cathedral’s tech incubator created and spun out a number of Internet-related businesses over its 12 year life, including Clickstream Technologies PLC (1999), Phonesync (2003), Doovle (2005), Cambridge IPTV (2006) and Familycam.com (2008).
