Auspire, The Australia Day Council is an independent, non-profit, membership based association and registered charity. We were founded in 1977 and collaborate as part of the ‘national family’ of eight State and Territory Australia Day Councils.
Our role is to encourage people living in Western Australia to feel a sense of belonging, a desire to contribute and participate to create stronger, more inclusive and resilient communities. Our vision is for Australian to be recognised as a culturally and socially inclusive society. We believe that no matter where each of our personal stories began, we can share a common bond, which can unite all of us while respecting diversity. We encourage a sense of national unity and belonging by promoting and engendering alignment with values such as fair go, mateship, inclusion and respect.
We seek to bring all people living in WA along our journey towards a united and socially cohesive country. We do this through our three strategic pillars:
Acknowledging our history through cultural awareness and reconciliation;
Rejoicing in the present with our recognition programs that identify and celebrate people delivering community strengthening outcomes; and
Looking confidently to our future by promoting and encouraging diversity inclusion and belonging.
Auspire runs a number of programs throughout the year including:
The Australian of the Year Awards
Aussie of the Month in primary schools around the country
