PCP is an independent not for profit government support organization, established in 2001 under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 to facilitate linkages between the government, civil society and private organizations. Its mission is to promote the volume and effectiveness of philanthropy for social development in Pakistan. During the past two decades, the PCP has created a niche for itself as the lead organization for advancing the agenda of philanthropy and improving its utilization for gainful social outcomes. Besides being a partner of development networks at local level and the Government of Pakistan, PCP is also engaged in regional and global activities with organizations and individuals of common interest to share, learn, explore and strengthen the essence and value of philanthropy.
PCP is a designated Certification Agency by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to conduct performance evaluation and capacity enhancement of non-profit organizations and foundations that contribute to the development and well-being of both the nation and the communities they serve within Pakistan. In its journey of 22 years, the Centre has achieved a substantial increase in the number of certified not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) reaching a mark of about 1500, and effectively linking donors with these NPOs.
PCP is also the sole organization generating knowledge and evidence-based research on various dimensions of philanthropy. The Centre’s research work has expanded the empirical map on indigenous giving routed through individuals, corporates, Pakistani diaspora and institutions or foundations that has mustered public policy support through effective advocacy and helping the givers better plan and organize social investments for civic good in Pakistan. Additionally, the PCP’s Philanthropy Support Services program has come a long way in facilitating both national and international foundations/donors to get linked with agile and trustworthy non-profit organizations working
