Founded in 1993 in NYC by Rick Wahlstedt and three Frenchmen, Le Colonial remain a culinary innovation, offering an upscale French-Vietnamese fusion cuisine. Shortly after its opening, Le Colonial NYC quickly became the place to be and be seen on the Upper East Side, hosting the the likes of Robert DeNiro and Madonna. It features a dining room on the first floor, and a lounge on the second floor – the first of its kind in an industry where separating the bar from the dining room was thought to be a faux-pas.
The restaurant was a great success, and in 1996, Rick partnered with Joe King to open Le Colonial in Chicago, where the concept proved once again to be a triumph. Today, Le Colonial Chicago has become an emblem of the Windy City.
2016 saw the two entrepreneurs take Le Colonial to the next level, by opening two new locations (Houston 2016, Atlanta 2019), re-designing all locations to become the iconic décor and dining experience it is today, and re-inventing the menu with incredible flavors and pairings.
In the next two years, Le Colonial will be opening 5 new locations in Lake Forest, Delray Beach, Naples, Scottsdale and Cherry Creek.
