What is our story?
Luis Felipe Avella, the CEO and Funder, is an industrial engineer who jumped from being a professor in fair trade and entrepreneurship researcher to a quinoa entrepreneur. Ines Patiño, the co-founder, is a chemical engineer who is an expert in industrial processes and one day she felt the quinoa call.
Both were attracted by quinoa in three ways: First, for over 7 thousand years it has been considered sacred by ancient settlements in the Andes mountain chain, in South America. Second, it is hypoallergenic and has all the essential amino acids, also the omegas, calcium, fiber, minerals and vitamins; according to the UN it is the ideal food for human beings. Third, quinoa is the vegetable food most similar to breast milk.
Factoria Quinoa was founded in October 2009. The first two and a half years were dedicated exclusively to investigation processes and seed development, crops and agroindustry of great added value.
We dreamed and were able to develop our own 100% instant quinoa powder, QUINOASURE, which improves nutrient assimilation, the flavor and solubility of quinoa flour, and enables to turn instant preparations such as smoothies, soups and sauces into perfect recipes.
In September 2012 we launched Quinoasure in the SIAL food trade show in Paris, where we were chosen for the Sial Innovation Award. We received the same award in 2013 in Shanghai and again in 2014 in Sao Paulo. In the U.S we were awarded as the best nutritional supplement at the Expo East Fair and also as the best new ingredient at the Expo West Fair. We have participated in more than thirty nutrition exhibitions around the world and today Quinoasure is the most awarded quinoa brand in the world.
