Found in 1921 by 6 motorcycle troopers, the WSP has grown into the largest public safety law enforcement agency in the state— with the responsibility of patrolling Washington's 17,524 miles of state highways. Today, the Washington State Patrol is made up of 50% commissioned officers and 50% civilian staff, all of who are hard working professionals dedicated to making Washington a safer and better place to live.
