Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service shaping a stronger future for Yolŋu. Established in 1992, the Corporation is committed to securing quality healthcare services and public health programs across the East Arnhem region. Miwatj Health provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 8,500 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 wards—Bulunu, Barra, and Mamarika Ward.

• Yurrwi (Milingimbi)
Plus, dedicated outreach teams who provide regular visiting health services to Birritjimi, Galupa, and Dhanaya; a Renal Dialysis service in Angurugu (Groote Eylandt); and coordinate eye health programs and health service support in the Mamarika Ward (Numbulwar, Milyakburra, Umbakumba, Angurugu, and Alyangula).
Miwatj clinics are staffed by General Practitioners, Remote Area Nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Aboriginal Community Workers—today, half of the workforce are Yolŋu. Services at Miwatj clinics include walk-in services for all acute and preventative health care needs; health education; and primary prevention programs to tackle the most important risk factors for First Nations peoples living in East Arnhem Land.
