Food Active is a healthier weight programme delivered by the public health charity the Health Equalities Group. The programme is commissioned by local authority public health teams, NHS organisations, and OHID teams at both regional and national level.
Food Active's core aim is to address the social, environmental, economic and legislative factors which influence people’s lifestyle choices and behaviours, with a specific focus on healthy weight. Our three key areas of work include:
- Influence policy pertaining to healthy weight, at a local and national level
- Deliver interventions and campaigns to promote healthier weight, including balanced diet and physically active lifestyles, with a focus on populations who suffer the greatest level of health inequalities
- Undertake research and develop strategic partnerships to lobby and advocate on issues pertaining to unhealthy weight and the impact of both the food and built environment
