Since 1887, Williston has functioned as the regional hub of northwest North Dakota and the economic center of our trade area. Our agricultural heritage helped found the city's thriving economy on a regional level, while our presence as a hub city on the national and global level has been facilitated by the world-class Bakken oil fields. Shale technology allowed the Bakken to produce over 1,000,0000 barrels of oil per day and with the flow oil came an overflow of wonderful opportunities for Williston and the Western Region.
Williston's population has doubled over the last 10 years and continues to steadily grow at a rate higher than that of the national average. As a result, the city of Williston and its businesses have invested over $2 billion in new construction for housing and infrastructure projects to meet the needs of our growing city.
Our future is bright; current residents enjoy the excellent quality of life initiatives that are inspiring younger families to move to Williston. As Williston's population gets younger, we are adding attractions that fit the lifestyle of those families and individuals moving to our area.
The City of Williston is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
