Arthritis is a condition that affects almost one million people in Ireland, from newborn babies through to the elderly. Arthritis Ireland is dedicated to working with people with arthritis and having a positive impact on the lives of those with the condition in three key ways:
(i) Investing in research to find new treatments and a cure;
(ii) Enabling and empowering people to become effective self-managers;
(iii) Raising understanding of arthritis as a chronic disease and fighting for better healthcare services.
Arthritis Ireland has become a strong voice for people living with arthritis. The organisation has pioneered the practice of self-management through its award-winning “Living Well with Arthritis” programme delivered in all areas of the community. It has successfully implemented exercise management programmes tailored to the needs of people with arthritis. In tandem, Arthritis Ireland has championed and funded world-class rheumatology research structures in Ireland to work towards a cure.
