ChildCare Vietnam’s mission is to aid disabled and abandoned children in Vietnam Special-Needs Children Vietnam has one of the highest rates of disability in the world, with nearly 7 million disabled among its population of 90 million. As children, many receive no education or therapy, and are physically restrained throughout the day to keep them from harm. CCV’s team of special education teachers and therapists work with special-needs children who otherwise would receive no schooling or rehabilitative care. For each child we serve, CCV completes a thorough developmental assessment and an Individual Education Plan in four areas—Literacy, Numeracy, Communication and Life Skills. We then provide a full-time educational and rehabilitative program designed to maximize each child’s ability to function independently, and where possible, receive traditional schooling. The ratio of CCV staff to children is approximately 1:3, ensuring that each child gets the individualized attention he or she needs. Newborns & Infants Numerous studies have found that babies raised in orphanages are prone to severe emotional and intellectual delays and pathologies. This is true of thousands of abandoned infants throughout Vietnam. Overworked and undertrained staff have little time for or understanding of the nurturing so crucial to this period of development. Babies typically spend most of the time unattended in cribs. CCV’s infant program ensures a maximum of 3 babies per caretaker by adding trained house mothers to hold and nurse and talk and play with babies who had known only the sound of their own cries, whose only solace had come through a bottle propped in a crib. Every dollar helps us improve the lives of the children we serve! ChildCare Vietnam, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization and your gift is deductible to the full extent allowable under IRS regulations.
