Established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency in 1987, Literacy Volunteers of Western Cook County provides free literacy education to adults in suburban Cook County and the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Mission: To provide free literacy tutoring to adult learners in western Cook County through a network of trained volunteers. Vision: To empower adult learners in western Cook County to competently read, write, and speak English, thus increasing quality of life in three areas: family, workplace, and community.
