The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) is dedicated to transformative, interdisciplinary genomic research and educational outreach. The Institute's cadre of world-class scientists working in collaborative laboratories coupled with its state-of-the-art equipment create an environment that inspires discovery and innovation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The IGB houses about 1,000 faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, and other personnel. IGB members are drawn from a broad range of disciplines, including crop sciences, physics, computer sciences and law. Check out the IGB's employment opportunities at http://www.igb.illinois.edu/about/employment.
Unified by common interests within a research theme, IGB faculty work on both independent and shared research projects. Their diverse backgrounds and technical skills contribute to the high funding rate and quality of research at the Institute.
IGB's research themes:
Biocomplexity | Biosystems Design | Computing Genomes for Reproductive Health
Genomic Ecology of Global Change | Gene Networks in Neural & Developmental Plasticity
Mining Microbial Genomes | Regenerative Biology & Tissue Engineering | Energy Biosciences Institute
