Our Group operates in the energy sector and is one of Europe's leading independent operators in oil refining. The Sarlux refinery in Sarroch (Cagliari) is one of the largest in the Mediterranean (300 thousand barrels/day) and among the most advanced in terms of plant complexity. It is a reference point in terms of efficiency and environmental sustainability, thanks to the skills and technological know-how developed during more than 60 years of activity and relies on a business model based on close coordination between refinery operations and commercial activities, carried out by the subsidiary Saras Trading, based in Geneva.
We are also active in the production and sale of electricity, thanks to the Combined Cycle Gasification Plant integrated with the refinery, which plays an essential role in the stability and security of Sardinia's power grid.
Through our subsidiary Sardeolica, we produce and sell renewable electricity from wind and solar sources. The current total installed capacity is 171 MW and meets the annual energy needs of about 200,000 people. Our goal, aligned with national decarbonisation policies, is to increase our capacity to 1 GW by 2028.
Concerning energy transition, we also launched other initiatives to seize the growing long-term opportunities offered by new technologies, including a project for the production of green hydrogen for the refinery, investments in the production of biofuels, and we are studying solutions for carbon capture and utilisation (CCS and CCU) and e-fuels production.
The commitment and professionalism of our people are the key elements to ensure the growth and sustainable evolution of our business while continuing to create value for our communities and stakeholders.
