Northland is in the business of acquiring, exploring and developing iron ore properties
and has assembled a portfolio of iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) exploration and
development projects in Sweden and Finland. The iron is contained as magnetite;
some of Northland’s properties also contain potentially economic copper and gold
concentrations.
The projects are located primarily within the Pajala Shear Zone (PSZ). The PSZ is about 250km long and 10km wide and trends
NNE-SSW between northern Sweden and Finland. The PSZ contains over 35 known IOCG occurrences, including the pastproducing
Rautuvaara and Hannukainen IOCG mines in Finland. The Rautuvaara mine is located 7 km south of Northland’s
advanced-stage Hannukainen project, which is located approximately 30-35 km northeast of Northland’s advanced-stage
Tapuli and Stora Sahavaara projects in Sweden. Hannukainen, Stora Sahavaara and Tapuli all have NI 43-101-compliant
resources defined. In addition, Northland controls exploration permits that cover a number of IOCG deposits with historic
resources as calculated by previous operators as well as the Swedish Geological Survey (SGU) and the Finnish Geological
Survey (GTK). Northland believes the region has the potential to become a significant iron ore mining district.
