The San Francisco Children’s Art Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower children and foster their sense of self through artistic expression. Through this process, Children’s Art Center students learn to view the world as a place filled with possibilities, where they can express their own vision.
A creative haven for thirty-five years, the Art Center's focus is on a process-oriented art experience. While providing instruction in the use of art materials and techniques, teaching artists guide students through the creative process in an effort to elicit and support each child's individual style of visual expression. Rather than simply following directions to construct prescribed art "products," children in our classes learn to trust their own creative impulses.
The SFCAC offers a full range of classes in our Fort Mason Center studio, as well as visual arts residencies at preschools across the city. On weekends, we offer Art Birthday Parties and Family Workshops.
