Nantes Institute for Advanced Study brings together researchers and intellectuals from every continent. They all have in common the fact that they consider the diversity of thought systems as an indispensable support to the institution of reason in a world destined to remain diverse and unpredictable. It is modeled on the inspiration of Princeton, where carefully selected researchers are able to benefit from temporary freedom from scheduling, teaching and administrative commitments to devote themselves to the advancement of fundamental knowledge, notably pushing back disciplinary, institutional and cultural boundaries. The IAS-Nantes was officially recognized as being of public utility. It entered the prestigious consortium SIAS (Some Institutes for Advanced Study) in 2015 alongside the 8 other leading IAS throughout the world: Princeton, Stanford, Harvard, North Carolina, Berlin, Uppsala, Wassenaar and Jerusalem.
