Avon Information Management and Technology Consortium was established in April 2007, when four PCTs Information Management and Technology departments formed together under hosting by NHS Bristol to supply NHS Bristol, NHS North Somerset and NHS South Gloucestershire with a dedicated IM&T service. It is the current E-Health Insider Healthcare IT Team of the year.
Designed to be a ‘one-stop’ IM&T solutions provider for Primary Care, Provider Services and Commissioning Services. AIMTC obtained a critical mass during its formation that allowed it to provide a single IT Service desk for all customers allowing a single point of contact for any IT issues regardless of location. At the same time we were able to establish both a Projects wing of the Consortium and an Operations Wing when dealing with current work and future workings.
The Consortium currently employs 114 full-time and part-time staff, covering locations in NHS Bristol, NHS North Somerset, NHS South Gloucestershire and working for NHS BANES, Smoke Free South West and South West Specialised Commissioning Group. As well as this the Consortium also supplies Information Governance support to 26 Primary Care, Acute Trust and Council Services across Bristol, Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
With a budget in excess of £5million for the financial year of 2010/2011, the Consortium is the sole supplier of IM&T Solutions to a total of 4,851 staff over an area of 513 square miles.
