In 1999 the Pi Rho chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi - Professional Business Fraternity was founded at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with the goal of offering students across campus the opportunity to gain business and leadership skills regardless of their major. Since then, the chapter has grown into an expansive network of students, alumni, and change makers, set on developing themselves into the best business leaders they can be.
Our chapter prides itself on taking Cal Poly's "Learn By Doing" philosophy to heart. Everything the chapter does, including its marketing, accounting, day to day running, event planning, and project management is done entirely by its members. This also translates into our members gaining valuable management and teamwork experience, making them adept at becoming the leaders so needed in the world today. Alpha Kappa Psi is much more than just a fraternity- it's a place for brothers to take risks, make mistakes, and dare greatly.
The chapter has won awards on both the local and national level, including recognition for community outreach by the Orfalea College of Business, community service by the university president's office, and membership growth by Alpha Kappa Psi's national Heritage Center.
