The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic conducts the country’s foreign policy and represents Greece in its interactions with foreign governments and international organizations. It promotes cooperation initiatives and mechanisms at the global, European and regional level, on political, economic, environmental, educational, judicial, and cultural affairs.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes international cooperation, peace & security, and the protection of human rights according to international law. It fosters close relations between the Diaspora communities and the homeland, by safeguarding the rights of Greek citizens abroad, supporting them in preserving their mother tongue and distinct cultural identity, and assisting them with their administrative affairs. It also co-ordinates other Greek ministries and government agencies activities with regards to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with foreign countries. The Ministry pursues its mission through its headquarters office in Athens and a wide network of diplomatic missions (Embassies and Consulates) abroad.
