The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is the governing body for more than 180,000 nurses in Ontario, Canada. Recognized internationally as a leader in professional regulation, we protect the public interest by:
• setting standards for nursing practice;
• establishing the requirements for becoming a nurse;
• administering a program that helps nurses maintain competence; and,
• enforcing the standards of practice and conduct.
We also support nursing regulation in the public interest by:
• participating in the provincial legislative process; and,
• sharing statistical information about Ontario's nurses.
