Plan Investment Fund was formed in 1986 as an investment vehicle for Blue Cross Blue Shield’s liquidity assets. Its Board consists of senior executives of Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.
Plan Investment Fund has averaged $1.2 billion in assets under management with $77 billion traded through the Fund from 2017-2021.
The Fund consists of two investment portfolios:
Government Portfolio (PIFXX): An institutional government money market fund
Money Market Portfolio (PIMXX): An institutional prime money market fund
Government Portfolio Risk: You could lose money by investing in the Portfolio. Although the Portfolio seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it cannot guarantee it will do so. An investment in the Portfolio is not insured or guaranteed by the FDIC or any other gov. agency.
Money Market Portfolio Risk: You could lose money by investing in the Portfolio. Because the share price of the Portfolio will fluctuate, when you sell your shares they may be worth more or less than what you originally paid for them. The Portfolio may impose a fee upon sale of your shares or may temporarily suspend your ability to sell shares if the Portfolio’s liquidity falls below required minimums because of market conditions or other factors. An investment in the Portfolio is not insured or guaranteed by the FDIC any other gov. agency.
