Established in Portugal following the acquisition of CPCarga in 2016, MEDWAY today has a strategic focus in Iberia, Italy and Belgium, and is evaluating the potential for growth in other northwest European markets. MEDWAY operates its own trains and provides tailormade and reliable services to customers. It invests in locomotives, wagons and specialised equipment such as gensets for reefer containers (for refrigerated and frozen cargo), swap bodies for general cargo, and tank containers for liquid and gases.
By moving more and more cargo via rail instead of trucks, MEDWAY’s activities help minimise the cost and carbon footprint of shipping goods around Europe. MEDWAY is ultimately owned by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the world’s largest container carrier. It provides rail operation services to multiple customers including MSC and MSC’s logistics subsidiary MEDLOG.
