Europlanet links research institutions and companies active in planetary science in Europe and around the world; planetary science being the study of planets in our solar system and those around other stars. It is an interdisciplinary field of research that covers astronomy and geophysics, robotic and human exploration of other planets, as well as the search for extraterrestrial life. The project launched on 1st February 2020 and will run until 2024. The Society is the parent body of the annual Europlanet Science Congress (EPSC), the largest annual meeting on planetary science in Europe. The Europlanet Society continues to build on the heritage of 15 years of Europlanet projects funded by the European Commission and provides a sustainable legacy for infrastructure, virtual access facilities, tools and services developed through these activities.
