The Foundation for Health Smart Consumers (FHSC) was organized in 2009 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting healthcare consumers by providing relevant and trustworthy information to help them make important healthcare decisions.

OBJECTIVES
- To research medical and pharmacy clinician needs, and consumer knowledge gaps in healthcare decision-making, and to identify sustainable educational opportunities
- To communicate public health and national, research-based information to healthcare providers and consumers so they can evaluate comparative benefits and risks of healthcare options
- To convene stakeholders and participate in efforts to advance the ability of consumers to make informed healthcare decisions in collaboration with healthcare providers
