Windhoek International School is the only international school in Namibia. It was founded in 1990 and moved to its present purpose-built facility in 1994. It operates on a northern hemisphere calendar (August to June). It has been an IB World School since 1998 and is still the only IB school in the country. Children from age 3 to 18 are enrolled. About a third of our students are expatriates and two-thirds are Namibian. The teachers come from around twenty countries. It is a not-for-profit Section 21 company. Governance is in the hands of a volunteer Board of ten.
